WHERE THE EARTH CONNECTS US | Three artists in natural dialogue

09/03/2026 - 02/05/2026

‘Where the earth connects us’
is not a metaphor.
It is a way of being.

Sometimes there are exhibitions that bring together not only artworks, but also lifelines, memories and shared inspiration. It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the special group exhibition WHERE THE EARTH CONNECTS US | Three artists in natural dialogue, featuring works by Jon Daamen, Rinaldo Klas and Kenneth Flijders.

What connects these three artists goes beyond their love for our earth and nature. It is also a friendship that stretches back in time. In 1980, Jon Daamen and Rinaldo Klas exhibited together in Paramaribo. Forty-six years later, their works meet again, this time at Readytex Art Gallery, in dialogue with Kenneth Flijders.

Rinaldo Klas approaches nature from a contemplative perspective. His work reveals how humanity and nature relate to one another, sometimes harmoniously, sometimes confrontationally. His paintings invite reflection on the traces we leave behind as human beings.

Kenneth Flijders approaches nature from a distinctly unique perspective. He incorporates natural fibers and mahogany extract into his work, creating a compelling sense of layering. In this way, he transforms the treated surface into a piece in which emotion and symbolism are prominently present.

Jon Daamen works with what the earth itself produces. In her refined collages of dried leaves and flowers, ephemeral materials are given new life. Leaf structures, veins and subtle variations in color come together in serene compositions in which attention, dedication and respect for nature are palpable.

With WHERE THE EARTH CONNECTS US | Three artists in natural dialogue, Readytex Art Gallery presents an exhibition in which three thematic approaches converge in a meaningful and visual dialogue. The earth functions as a connecting element, both materially and conceptually.

Together with the three artists, we warmly welcome you to the opening of this special exhibition at Readytex Art Gallery on Saturday, March 7 at 7:30 pm.

The exhibition will be on view from Monday, March 9 through Saturday, May 2, 2026.

Readytex Art Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and on Saturday from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.

We hope to welcome you to experience this special exhibition and to feel the energy of our earth as expressed through the artists’ work.
