What does Alakondre—a term deeply rooted in Surinamese culture—truly mean? Readytex Art Gallery (RAG) invites you to a unique symposium where art, philosophy, and community come together to explore this fascinating concept.
This theatrical symposium, inspired by Plato’s model, will bring together speakers from diverse disciplines to discuss and define Alakondre. The goal? To build a theoretical foundation for this captivating idea, which has long been present—consciously or unconsciously—in the work of Surinamese artists.
This event marks the next step in RAG’s Alakondre journey, which previously led to the Alakondre Art Manifesto 1. The evening will feature a creative setup by artist Sri Irodikromo and will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel for a global audience.
