The Surifesta 2007 monument of lights
(14 Dec 2007 - 6 Jan 2008)

The idea for this monument originates from the "festival of lights" that takes place yearly in honor of Ied Ul Fitre in Lelydorp, Suriname.  People from all over drive down to see the beautiful and impressive constructions made by locals to hold bottles of light in honor of "Bodo" and to welcome friends and family who come to celebrate on this national holiday.

This monument is designed by George Struikelblok with inputs from Soeki Irodikromo, Roddney Tjon Poen Gie, Dorette Kuster-Oehlers, Cliff Rasidin, Kit-Ling Tjon Pian Gi, Glenn Fung Loy en Daniel Djojoatmo.

The execution of the project was done by team Atelier Struikelblok.
